about

Jonas Metsäkylä is a Finnish jazz guitarist and composer based in Paris.
His playing combines warmth, melodic clarity, and rhythmic intensity, shaped by years of performing across the European jazz scene as both a bandleader and sideman.

Jonas leads the JM-Trio — a group dedicated to performing his original music through collective improvisation, interaction, and energetic live performance.

Alongside his trio work, Jonas focuses on the expressive possibilities of solo jazz guitar, exploring movement, storytelling, and spontaneity through intimate solo performances.

Jonas is a sought-after sideman on the European jazz scene and a member of the Chuck Israels Quartet, Seba Colson Quintet featuring Erik Ineke, Bianca Rantala Quintet, and Jukkis Uotila Young Lions.

He has also worked with artists including Jerry Weldon, Terell Stafford, Tim Hagans, Benny Benack III, and Holger Marjamaa.
